Valentina Tereskova, la prima donna dello spazio.  A  bordo della Vostok 6, il 16 giugno 1963, percorse l’orbita terrestre 48 volte, in tre giorni.  L’astronauta americano John Glenn l’aveva fatto l’anno precedente, orbitando 3 volte in 5 ore; e aveva commentato davanti alla “Special Subcommittee on the Selection of Astronauts of the House Committee on Science and Astronautics”: “men go off and fight the wars and fly the airplanes and come back and help design and build and test them. The fact that women are not in this field is a fact of our social order”…
